Don't think this is Ruffles, but a wonderful shot nonetheless!

WOW, what a beautiful animal. So handsome and just magnificent. Love the natural dorsal fin, just the way it was meant to be. What a king!

omg that looks like ruffles!!! we had the pleasure of watching all 3 pods for almost 2 weeks a few years back before ruffles passed away... we've been back but only got to see them from a distance... I miss them soooo much... I live in Colorado and can not wait until we get another chance to go back up there... we were able to view them from Lime Kiln Point they came right up to the lighthouse and gave us the best show... by the way awesome capture!!!

I couldn't say as to if this was ruffles or not, but i'm glad it was able to spark some happy memories.  :-)

not much more than the deck height on the boat I was on. The entire pod came right by the back end of the boat and I had to zoom out we were that close. :)

I've been whale-watching once when I was on vacation in California. It wasn't the right time for whales but we still saw some finback whales (? don*t know whether that's the correct name for them) and I will never forget the feeling when these majestic animals passed our boat!

This was my first "whale watching trip" however I often see Beluga in the Turnagain arm on my trips to the peninsula, they are a common sight following the hooligan and salmon in the summer months.

I will say seeing those Orca's so close was spectacular. This might become a yearly event for me.

well,..I'm located in Germany..and there are not many whales to watch over here :)
But for sure I'll see California again once and for sure I'll go back to the whales then :)

Really not happy with you now.... GRRRR

Jealousy is a bad thing. LOL! - Luckily you share!!!

My favorite whale. - Sometimes we see them from the ferry - but never close enough. (and the one whale watching trip was a bust).
